Description: These 4 postcards are the Grand Canyon Hotel in Yellowstone Park. The hotel was built in 1911 and dismantled in 1959. It was the largest building in the park and one of the largest wooden buildings in the world. The architect was Robert Reamer, who also designed the Old Faithful Inn. Robert Reamer was influenced by Frank Lloyd Wright and his "Prairie School" design. The Canyon Hotel exhibited two main architectural styles, American Arts and Crafts and Parkitecture, also known as National Park Service Rustic Style. The Canyon Hotel no longer stands, but its influence can be found in many of the National Park Service buildings throughout the country.
